7 reasons why you feel tired

It is normal to feel tired from time to time. Most people are affected by exhaustion and fatigue at some point. Problems arise when we are deprived of energy not only occasionally but constantly. In this situation, there is certainly an irregularity. Find out the main reasons why you feel tired, so that you can find a solution and improve your quality of life.

1. Waking up late

Insufficient sleep is included on the list of reasons why you feel tired

In general, we have the impression that waking up later means being better rested, but this conception is wrong. In fact, we feel more rested, calm and relaxed throughout the day when we wake up early.

A study conducted in 2009 at the University of Leipzig (Germany) revealed that energetic and proactive people are the ones who wake up early.

Also, a study conducted at the Research Institute of Molecular Biology and Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (published under the title Personality and individual differences ) showed that, depending on the dynamics of the biological clock, there are three types of people.

The second mentioned study recommends us to establish which are the hours when our energy level is maximum. Then we need to change our habits to take advantage of these periods of maximum activity. In other words, we need to identify our “chronotope.”

2. Poor diets

Excess carbohydrates and protein deficiency are possible causes of severe fatigue. Although carbohydrate sources tend to be delicious foods that provide a quick boost of energy, the body must break down this substance into sugar, thus increasing blood sugar.

Then the pancreas is forced to secrete more insulin to lower blood glucose. If the blood sugar experiences such ups and downs, the body must perform homeostasis and, for this purpose, consumes a lot of energy. If you are an avid consumer of sweets and other sources of carbohydrates, you will feel tired on a regular basis.

3. Sedentary lifestyle, on the list of reasons why you feel tired

Doing nothing is very exhausting. Yes, we are not kidding: very sedentary lifestyles are not relaxing, but tiring. So, if you have to sit down permanently at work or get used to driving to the store across the street, you will feel tired.

Low-impact and aerobic exercise (including outdoor activities) stimulates the secretion of the hormone of happiness (serotonin). This improves the quality of sleep and general health. Initially, you are very likely to feel tired, but regular exercise greatly reduces the feeling of exhaustion and increases endurance.

4. Insufficient sun exposure

The human body needs sunlight. For this reason, sitting in the sun early in the morning and in the late afternoon will help your body produce vitamin D. At the same time, sunlight allows you to maintain your health. Exposing yourself to the sun will make it easier for you to get better quality sleep.

5. Restless sleep

Lack of sleep is included on the list of reasons why you feel tired

One of the main reasons you feel tired is that you don’t get eight hours of restful sleep. Adults should sleep uninterrupted for seven to eight hours each night. This habit allows the brain and other organs to repair and perform their functions.

6. Deficiencies of minerals and vitamins

Micronutrients, minerals and vitamins are important substances without which the body cannot function properly. Lack of nutrients causes fatigue, exhaustion, dizziness and even serious illness.

Following a balanced diet every day, which includes at least five servings of fruits and vegetables, will give you extra essential nutrients. It is also advisable to eat nuts, including those containing minerals such as magnesium chloride.

7. Stressful situations, among the main reasons why you feel tired

You probably feel discouraged when you go through difficult situations that do not seem to have a solution. If you face a recurring problem, a situation that overwhelms you or you have to take care of a sick relative, you may feel the need to give up.

In such situations, we advise you to rest a little and not to think about the aspects that you cannot control. This will reduce emotional tension. And very stressful moments at work can contribute to chronic fatigue. Try to do something beautiful for yourself and rest periodically.
